Zephyr Engineering, Inc. and Motorola to offer the ZPC.860C Motorola MPC180
Security Processor Development
Board Kit for network security applications
Tempe - Zephyr Engineering, Inc., specialists in custom hardware and software
design services, announced today that they will join forces with Motorola
by offering the ZPC.860C Motorola MPC180 Security Processor Development Board
Kit. This kit enables
software engineers to write and test software using Motorola's security
processors, the MPC860 PowerQUICC, and the MPC180.
The ZPC.860C kit consists of two components, the MPC860 processor card
from Micetek, and the MPC180 security processing daughter card from Zephyr.
The MPC860 processor card functions as a self-contained, generic MPC860
resource board. This card
provides developers a flexible environment in which to build their own MPC860 system.
The MPC180 security processor enhances system performance by executing
computationally intense operations that secure internet related products.
The Zephyr MPC180 daughter card connects this processor to the 860
local bus through a board to board connector.
The two are tightly coupled and run at 50
MHz.
"We are pleased to support Motorola's exciting line of security
processors," said Scott Cowling, president of Zephyr Engineering.
"The ZPC.860C development kit provides an environment for developers to
implement their own network security applications using Motorola
processors."
To further facilitate product development, the kit also includes a VxWorks board support package, drivers, and diagnostics for the
MPC180. The drivers are written in
ANSI C for portability to other operating systems.
